Frog Population Study

Frog Population Study by Flinn Scientific Canada

This activity is a hands-on game that simulates how natural and human interactions affect frog populations in a pond ecosystem. This game can be ordered through Flinn Scientific Canada, and is well worth it! Students will use math concepts such as graphing and data management to calculate the frog population growth and deficit and compare graphs of fluctuating populations under natural versus human factors that affect the population. This activity lends well into further extension when discussing biodiversity expectations for Grade 6, such as invasive species and inter-relationships between species. It comes with a teacher guide and extension ideas. Our students thoroughly enjoyed the hands-on approach to the ideas presented!
