Joe McGough
Joe is an MBA with significant financial and operational years of experience in rail, alternative fuels, software, manufacturing, and financial services. His expertise includes integrating cutting-edge alternative fuel program (LNG) in the rail industry from initial ROI analysis through government approval to operational integration and training while designing reporting benchmarks and tracking efficiency and cost savings.
Why do you mentor? I taught undergraduate finance, accounting, and ethics classes at the University of Phoenix in Jacksonville, Florida for 15 years. In 2020, the campus was closed. My time as a professor was my way of giving back to the community and to industry. As a key member of an alternative energy program for a Class II railroad, I trained mechanical personnel on operational aspects of the program and mechanical, maintenance of way, police, and first responders on safety aspects. My greatest success is seeing the lightbulb turn on for a colleague or student. Plus, by teaching others, I learn more.
