Briony Croft Ph.D.
Dr. Croft is a mechanical engineer specializing in railway noise and vibration. She has over fifteen years of experience working in the UK, Australia, and in Canada. Her doctorate was awarded for research into rail roughness and corrugation, a fundamental source of railway noise. Briony's current primary responsibilities are split between two roles. Her technical role is as a railway noise and vibration specialist consultant. She consults to rail agencies and designers on noise and vibration mitigation and works with rail agencies and railway designers to address noise and vibration issues and design mitigation for new railway projects. She is also a member of SLR Consulting's Canadian Management Team, in the role of Infrastructure Sector Leader. This involves responsibility for infrastructure business development, performance, and revenues.
Why do you mentor? I have benefited from the advice and support of several mentors in the early stages of my career. I am passionate about increasing professional opportunities for women in engineering, and see mentoring as a way to support others to increase diversity in the railway industry.
