90-95% of scholarships are offered by the college your student attends, whereas only about 5% come from private scholarships

Many are automatically awarded, and can be found in your financial aid litter.  Others have specific applications that students will fill out through the college.  Some have financial need considerations and others are merrit based.  

Check the websites for the colleges you are interested in.  They will often have information about scholaships offered through their school
