Students insterested in taking courses outside of WSCA must closely follow processes:
Outside Courses to Replace a
WSCA Graduation Requirement
Read OUTSIDE COURSES to REPLACING WSCA GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS)
Complete approval process and application.
Students approved to accelerate will be provided information on all following steps.
Do not attempt to take an extermal course without approval. Students who do so will not be permitted to replace grad requirement.
Outside Course for Personal Interest/ Enrichment- Not for WSCA Credits
WSCA will not need to be notified. Student does not need to complete and approval applicaiton or process.
However, if the course is taken through Sierra College, the student MUST follow all guidance on Sierra College Courses and Registration below.
Math Acceleration
Students interested in taking courses for the purpose of math acceleration will follow a seperate application process.
Detailed each February spring during Course Selection Presentations.

Sierra College Policies: Academic Enrichment Policies & Guidelines
Students who do not carefully read and follow all presentation instructions WILL have issues with, or miss essential parts of, the registration process.
Sierra College is designated as our regional community college.WSCA counselors provide guidance towards Sierra College course selection and application process.
Students who have an interest in exploring college classes outside of Sierra College will need to navigate processes independently.
Sierra College Academic Enrichment:
College Coursework While In High School:
Must be responsible for ALL parts of the college reprocess.
Follow presentation process carefully, and prepare in advance.
Be reponsible for understanding Sierra College dates, deadlines and assessing resources.
Students are responsible for troubleshooting any issues related to the course or registration processes.
Outside courses will only be listed on your transcript when approved in advance by your counselor and used to fulfill a WSCA grad requirement.
Courses approved for this reason MUST be included on your WSCA transcript and grades will be included on your WSCA gpa (no exceptions).

NO courses taken outside of WSCA will ever be given honors points on your WSCA transcript, regardless whether the outside school named it as AP, Honors or college level.
For outside coursework NOT added to your WSCA transcript.
During senior year college app workshops, your counselor will show you how to include this coursework on your college application information.

California Virtual Campus: Enroll in an online course at another California Community College without the hassle of filling out a separate application! Search for a course code or name. Then filter for Asynchronus courses. Dual enrollment (currently enrolled in high school) are not eligible to enroll in courses via the CVC Exchange, due to the unique policies and procedures in place at each college. You are still encouraged to search for online courses at www.cvc.edu, but you must then apply directly to the college using CCCApply.
