​The focus of Concert Band is to develop a solid fundamental approach to the student's instrument as it relates to tone production, intonation, rhythmic understanding, and technical ability as well as the development of a characteristic and balanced ensemble sound. Most students who switch instruments and beginner instrumental students are placed in Concert Band. Concert Band also focuses heavily on musical literacy, or the ability to read music. Concert Band students are eligible to audition for Jazz Band.
