Intro to Music Theory is designed to dig into the "science" of music; it is similar to an honors math or science class, but for music. Topics will include scales (major and minor), chord building and analyzing, composing basics, aurals skills, and much more! This class is designed for those students who have a background in reading music and who may want to explore music as a career. It is not required to read music before you start class, but this is something you will need to work hard to learn when we start class. Please know that music theory is not just listening to music! This is a very hands-on class that makes learning the "building blocks" of music fun! Available to eighth grade students only. This elective will run for one semester.
