Why Queen Charlotte College?

Queen Charlotte College is 2.5kms from Picton which is a small coastal town set in the beautiful Marlborough Sounds of New Zealand. It is a safe, peaceful and unpolluted location. The town has excellent services and facilities and has a multi-cultural population which is reflected in the variety of restaurants, cafes and tourist facilities that cater for every need. The town centre is small, you can walk to all the shops. Picton has its own airport which services the international airport in Wellington. It is a half hour drive from Blenheim Airport which services all the main centres such as Auckland. Both airports are serviced frequently by transport operators. Picton is famous for its natural beauty and outdoor activities. You can find out more on our page about the Marlborough Region.

Queen Charlotte College welcomes international students from a number of countries and enjoys the opportunity to share their culture.

Queen Charlotte College was built as a new College in 1965 and the maintenance and presentation of the College every day is exemplary. The College is blessed by a supportive community, young staff and very supportive Board of Trustees. It is innovative in its approach to education being the first in New Zealand to offer an Aquaculture Academy to its students.

The College is a modern co-educational College of 400 students with a proud tradition of academic and sporting success. Students are encouraged to become fully involved in sporting, cultural and recreational programmes. High standards of conduct are expected, and emphasis is placed on working hard in a positive and supportive environment.

Queen Charlotte College prepares students to attend universities, other tertiary institutions and the work place. The college offers a wide selection of senior options. All major New Zealand examinations and certificate subjects are taught, and national and international English exam tuition is available. International students particularly enjoy our special ‘Education Outside the Classroom’ programme. The College hosts limited numbers of international students from Asia, Europe and the Americas. We have regular student exchanges with our sister school in Japan, and our students have both organised tours and individual international exchanges.

Queen Charlotte College has agreed to observe and is bound, by the Code of Practise for Pastoral Care of International Students.
