Math

All students receiving special education services will be enrolled in a Math course for each year of middle school. Below are the descriptions for small group Math courses. If a student qualifies for in class support classes, those students will be enrolled in a general education Math course which contains a general education teacher as well as a special education teacher.

Small Group Math 6:

The following major topics are included within the 6th grade Math curriculum: understanding fractions, decimals and percents, using fractions, decimals and percents, computing with decimals and percents, two-dimensional geometry, two-dimensional measurement, and understanding probability 

Small Group Math 7:

The following major topics are included within the 7th grade Math curriculum: algebraic reasoning, proportional reasoning, representing relationships, data and statistics, ratio, proportion and percent, three-dimensional geometry, two-dimensional geometry including similarity, number sense and integer operations, and basics of linear algebra. 

Small Group Math 8:

The following topics are included within the 8th grade Math curriculum: linear and inverse variation, exponential relationships, algebraic reasoning and making sense of symbols, preparation for the New Jersey Assessment of Skills and Knowledge, the Pythagorean Theorem, symmetry and transformations, and linear systems and inequalities.
