family liaison Team

The Department of Language, Culture & Equity is fortunate to work with a team of Arabic and Spanish speaking Family Liaisons. Liaisons work as a bridge between families and PSD school communities. Family Liaisons create positive school experiences and help families navigate the school system, keeping parents informed and leading students towards academic achievement and post-secondary readiness.

Family Liaisons serve our linguistically diverse and high needs families and offer a wide range of services such as:

- - Welcome and assist families to navigate the school system
  - Support student success by connecting families and students to counselors, teachers, administration, and other school staff as needed
  - Help to establish ongoing, reciprocal communication between the family, school, and staff by providing interpretation and translation services
  - Write and maintain a Family Engagement Year Plan in collboration with school administration and FSCP team
  - Collaborate with school staff and community partners to offer family engagement events and workshops on a variety of topics specific to families’ needs
  - Conduct home visits when necessary
  - Connect staff and families to community resources
