The Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services has developed a list of Missouri internet providers who are ensuring continuity of service to our communities during this time of need. Broadband access is more important than ever as Missourians have been instructed to stay home from work and school as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Accessibility is critical to meet our needs for education, telemedicine, telecommuting, and overall quality of life.
EveryoneOn is a national locator tool that assists individuals in finding low-cost internet. The site has updated it's information to include Internet Service Providers who have made updates to their low-cost internet service programs to ensure individuals and families stay connected to the internet during these challenging times. Users can simply type in their zip code and answer a few questions to determine eligibility.
New "Internet Essentials" customers will receive two free months of Internet service, which is available to all qualified low-income households for $9.95/month plus tax. Apply by April 30, 2020. Additionally, for all new and existing Internet Essentials customers, the speed of the program's Internet service has increased to 25 Mbps downstream and 3 Mbps upstream. That increase will go into effect automatically for no additional fee and it will become the new base speed for the program going forward. After the two months of free service, customers will be set up to continue receiving Internet service for $9.95/month plus tax, but can choose to disconnect their Internet Essentials service at any time without penalty.
Comcast customers will have unlimited data until May 12, and all Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspots will be free to the public. We will not disconnect a customer’s internet service or assess late fees if they contact us and let us know that they can’t pay their bills during this period. Our care teams will be available to offer flexible payment options and can help find other solutions.
All AT&T consumer home internet wireline customers, as well as Fixed Wireless Internet, can use unlimited internet data. This means no overage fees while people are home using more data. We're keeping our public Wi-Fi hotspots open for anyone who needs them. We won't terminate service of any wireless, home phone or broadband residential or small business customer due to an inability to pay their bill as a result of the coronavirus pandemic – and we’re waiving late payment fees for those customers. Additionally, we’ll continue to offer internet access for qualifying limited income households at $10 a month through our Access from AT&T program. We’ve expanded eligibility to Access from AT&T to households participating in the National School Lunch Program and Head Start. Additionally, we’re offering new Access from AT&T customers two months of free service. You can see if you are eligible for Access from AT&T Here.
The Spectrum Internet Assist program provides reliable, high-speed internet access at an affordable price for those who qualify. Eligible low-income households can receive discounted 30 Mbps high-speed internet, along with Security Suite and an internet modem, at no additional charge.
Spectrum Internet Assist requires no contracts, and as always, there are no data caps or hidden fees.
One or more members of your household must be a recipient of one of the following assistance programs:
National School Lunch Program (NSLP)
Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) of the NSLP
Supplemental Security Income (for applicants age 65+ only)
Lifeline is a federal program that lowers the monthly cost of phone and internet. Eligible customers will get up to $9.25 toward their bill. You can only use Lifeline for either phone or internet, but not both. To get Lifeline, find a company near you.
The Federal Communications Commission has created the Keep Americans Connected Initiative in order to ensure that Americans do not lose their broadband or telephone connectivity as a result of these exceptional circumstances. Broadband and telephone service providers, and trade associations, are asked to pledge to:
not terminate service to any residential or small business customers because of their inability to pay their bills due to the disruptions caused by the coronavirus pandemic;
waive any late fees that any residential or small business customers incur because of their economic circumstances related to the coronavirus pandemic; and
open its Wi-Fi hotspots to any American who needs them.
