Date/Time: December 17, 6:00-7:30PM
Presenter(s): Amy Maus, MSW, LCSW, West County Psychological Associates
Description: Last spring, for the first time in memory, we were all sent home from school. We had to stay in our homes and, there for a while, it felt like we were risking our lives just to go to the grocery store. Doctors and nurses were crying in interviews. Refrigerated trucks were used as makeshift morgues. We worried about our families but we couldn’t visit them. Millions and millions of people lost their jobs. We felt helpless and horrified and scared.
Now, our schools have resumed – whether in-person or online – but the numbers of cases and hospitalizations due to COVID are again frightening. How do we understand the impact of a year of such high stress? How do we care for ourselves at a time such as this? Information about stress and self-care is vital right now.
Topics Covered Include:
Understanding stress and its effects
Symptoms of over-stress
Types of good self-care
Coping skills
Creating a resilience plan
