This is a two-year course conducted entirely in Spanish where students will examine, in depth, the literature and cultures of the Spanish-speaking world via authentic texts. Students will strengthen their interactive, receptive and productive skills while gaining understanding of literature and cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. Two complete pieces of literature written in the target language will be studied in the class. In addition, the course will study topics connected to five IB Language B themes: identities, experiences, social organization, human ingenuity, and how we share the planet. Students must earn a yearlong average of 65% or higher in Year 1 in order to move on to Year 2. Prerequisite: Student has maintained a yearlong average of 85% or higher in Spanish IV or has received approval from the World Language Department Head.
