IB Film is a two-year course focused on both critical analysis of film and technical competency of film making. Students study and analyze film text and film-making decisions and explore film history and theory. Students develop critical thinking skills which enable them to appreciate cultural and historical perspectives in Film, while challenging their own beliefs and biases. Students experiment with film and multimedia technology to develop professional and technical skills needed for creative expression through film. Students work independently and in groups to create a Film Portfolio and Collaborative Film Project. Additional assessments include a textual analysis of film and a recorded comparative study. Prerequisite: Film and one either drawing, acting, or script writing or instructor approval.
