Art grades are based on an average of all assignments and activities.
Students receive 2 points per day in class if they are showing positive work ethic. This is called a "Studio Habits" grade and reflects their understanding and utilization of the Studio Habits of Mind throughout work time. Showing Artistic Habits as part of your grade makes it extremely important that you are in class regularly.
Students complete in-class activities to learn new media and techniques, and receive a grade for participating in and completing those activities. These are "Skill Builders", and help students develop the artistic skills and understanding of media and technique that they need to show in their independent work. Skill Builders measure student mastery of that technique or medium, regardless of how they choose to use it in any final projects. Point values for these activities vary based on length and difficulty.Â
Students have larger projects to complete, which are typically between 20 and 30 points. Objectives, instructions, and expectations are gone over in class and always available in Google Classroom to review. Projects are developed by the student in response to a theme or a specific objective.
Students can access their art grade book in Google Classroom at any time. Click on "Classwork" and then the "View Your Work" icon at the top left of the page.
