Community College Concurrent Enrollment is a possibility for students who want to explore courses that are not offered at Foothill High School. FHS does not weight community college courses on the high school transcript. FHS will only place the following community college courses on our high school transcript if it fulfill minimum required A-G courses.
See each community college website for high school student enrollment forms and course availability for the term in which you are applying. Please contact student's alpha counselor for concurrent enrollment form approvals (including DocuSign approvals) NOT the Principal. We advise applying to several community colleges for the same subject, since high school students often receive the last priority in registering for college classes. There are many more community college courses that FHS students can take. Keep in mind that courses may receive high school credit if added to the Foothill transcript but colleges don't usually allow students to receive college credit for the same courses when they enroll.
A new resource is now available to support high school students taking California community college courses! The A-G and Cal-GETC intersections document outlines how Cal-GETC-approved California community college courses can be used to meet the A-G subject area requirements for first-year admission.
This document is not intended to be inclusive of all dual enrollment courses, nor all UC-transferable courses found on assist.org. Rather, these intersections allow for greater clarity and confidence in determining which Cal-GETC courses will meet A-G requirements. As such, we encourage the use of this new guidance and other dual enrollment resources for more information.
As a reminder, Cal-GETC is a general education pattern intended to facilitate transfer from a California community college to UC. While high school students may take Cal-GETC-approved courses, Cal-GETC certification is neither expected nor required of first-year applicants. More information about first-years with Cal-GETC certification can be found on page 36 of the Quick Reference Guide to UC Admissions.
