June 2012

The Pleasance 47s team won their Group in the British Masters Veterans Tournament & advanced to the Elite group Playoffs on Sunday 17th June. Well done guys!

Well done to the Pleasance 47s Team who played well at the British Master's Event last weekend.

That is the end of the season for all 3 Pleasance teams. Well done to everyone as the results were an improvement on last year.

The Pleasance end of season even will be on Saturday 30th June. This will involve the usual games between old and young players, a 3 point contest and slam dunk competition for those lucky enough to get above the rim without a piggy back. Graeme is then kindly having us over to his for food and drinks afterwards.

May 2012

Great wins from both Pace & 47s to finish off May. Pace beat the 3rd place Masters in their best game of the season so far and the 47s saw off the Peregrines

April 2012

Pleasance traveled to Inverness in April for the Claymore Cup invitational tournament. After coming 2nd in the the group stage, Pleasance won the 3rd Place Playoff to collect the Bronze medal. See the video & photos on the links on the left.

March 2012

Pace sadly say goodbye to Csaba Gyonyoru this week. Csaba has played for Pleasance for 3 years now, and is returning home. It's been a delight to play with him, and we all wish him well for the future - stay in touch Csaba, we'll miss you and those 3's!

47s played an exciting game against Central Jags on Friday - in a nip and tuck game, 47s came from 7 down in Q4 to force overtime, and eventually edged it by 2. Blasts from the past with Frankie's late 3, Andy's hook in o/t and the weirdest basket you could imagine from Kenny (a desperate backwards chuck). Excellent performances from both teams, and credit to 47s for digging deep with a 6-man roster.

February 2012

After 2 disappointing results, the Division 1 Team got back to winning ways with a 71-57 win over Spartans. Strong scoring 1st and 3rd quarters built a 15 point lead, and great 4th quarter defence sealed it, with a last second dunk to ice the cake. Great team performance from all across the roster, and thanks to Big Andy and Graeme for stepping up from the Old Gits to fill a couple of gaps.

Big win for the 47s on the weekend, beating Peregrines 76-21. An effective press in the second half led to multiple turn overs, with many fast break points. A game, played in a good spirit from both sides

January 2012

Pleasance D1 team finished a successful January on the 31st with a confident 8 point win over Dunfermline Steel (65-57), giving us a 4 out of 5 run in recent weeks. Steel edged a tight first quarter by 2, and thereafter Pleasance won each quarter, stretching the lead to 16 at one point. Four guys in double figures indicates a strong team performance. Currently sitting at 4th in the league, and the challenge is to consolidate this position in the weeks ahead.

A really good January for all Pleasance teams!!!

A busy weekend for the Pleasance teams: Pace were in action against Penicuik, and after a strong first half, leading by 12, we were gradually pegged back, but great D in the 4th saw us home by 4 - back to back wins for Pace now, lets keep the roll going.

47s faced D1 unbeaten leaders Lions in the Cup, and after a slow start, trailing by 18 at one point, pulled Lions right back with an impressive 18-6 tear in Q4. The guys had a final shot to win the game, with the clock running down, but sadly were edged by 1. A great performance by all, against a top notch team

After a disappointing loss on the weekend Pleasance D1 team got back to winning ways with a 70-42 win over Prestige on 25/1/12. The guys started with a blitz of 3s, and after finishing Q1 at 19-10, eased away to a comfortable victory, with the points and performances spread all around the squad.

Pleasance Pace won against Midlothian Madness on 20th Jan with a layup at the buzzer to break the tie having previously had a 9 point lead slip away. The video above shows the frantic finish. Unfortunately the 47s lost to the Tigers.

Pleasance's D1 team got the new year off to a positive start with a 49-41 win over Boroughmuir. The team led through most of the game, but started the 4th Quarter 1 down. A gritty performance eventually took us home. Some post-Christmas rust in evidence, but good to start 2012 with a win.

December 2011

Pleasance 1st Division team progressed through to the Quarter Finals of the Lothian Cup last night with a convincing 78.58 win over Dunfermline Steel. With a couple big guys missing from the roster, the whole team stepped up with a compelling team display, with strong performances right across the team sheet.

October 2011

Pace won their first game of the season on Friday against Peregrines.

Pace were in action in a very hard fought game against a tough Tigers team on 7th October. A really dogged performance, but were edged 51-44 in the end - an excellent performance by all though, really boding well for the season ahead.

47s beat West Lothian Wolves by 42.33 in a solid performance by the grizzled old veterans.

The 1st team beat Tigers in the round of 32 of the Chairman's Cup by 54-47 to progress in to the next round.

We kicked off the Division1 season on Tuesday night with a win over Heriot Watt University, 52-50. The game was won on the last play of the game - 1 down with 15 seconds left, inbound on their end line. Time out called and a set play was made for Vytas to go strong to the hoop - basket scored + the foul (scored). We had been down 46-38 with 5 minutes to go.
