Yes and no. It's all perspective.
Friday we played Wethersfield and they dispatched us pretty easily. Some matches were close; others were not. We played well, but not well enough to win. We looked like the have-nots.
And yet Wethersfield is the have-nots when it comes to teams like Glastonbury, for instance, or South Windsor. True, it has something to do with school size, but not all. If it were only school size, New Britain would be our toughest opponent. Instead Farmington, much smaller, is also much better.
The point of this is that our skill level, our effort, our discipline, and our consistency matter more than our league or division. We will play teams this year who will look at us as the haves. Even if it's true on that day, don't let it distract you—tennis matches are won by the team with the best strokes and the best players. That situation is ours to change.
