Hello Spring Student Athletes, Parents and Guardians,
I know this is a crazy time for everyone but we will get through this. It was announced yesterday that the CIAC is delaying the start of the Spring Season. This gives us hope so there will be some sort of season when we report back to school. They have also urged all of our student athletes to stay safe and follow all of the recommendations that have come from Governor Lamont’s office. Our facilities and athletic fields at PHS remain closed and students should not be gathering at the schools to meet up, workout or for any other reason. The meeting the CIAC had yesterday was centered around the safety of all of our student athletes. It was emphasized that while student-athletes may want to begin preparations for a potential season that respecting the recommendations for social distancing and avoiding group activities prior to the approved time will aid in keeping athletes safe and allow for the season to begin in a timely manner if approved. At Plainville, we will strongly follow this recommendation and no coach will host any type of in person gathering. All head coaches will be reaching out to their student athletes through different electronic avenues. Every sport program could be unique but coaches will be urging their student athletes to individually prepare themselves both physically and mentally for the Spring Season. This will not include getting together with teammates to workout or practice. The recommendations coming from the coaches will be ideas and activities students can complete in the comfort of their own home. Thank you so much to our student athletes and families for understanding the severity of this. Any updates we receive will be relayed to you in a timely fashion. Stay Safe and Be ALLin.
