For character, I always make good and what I believe to be the best decisions for both myself and to be a leader by example within Piper High School, and because of this I feel that I am well respected by both my teachers and my peers. Most of the time I mind my business in order to stay focused and complete what I need to get done, done, but I also interact with others and stand up for what's right in every situation. For service, I have been a member of National Honor Society for the last two years of high school and have completed nearly 100 hours of community service, and I love to give back to my community and those who are less fortunate than me. I have also served at community events such as 8th Grade Academy Night because I want to have an impact on younger peoples' futures and help them enjoy high school and find their passion in life. For achievement, I have really found what I love to do and stuck with it for the most part. I learned very quickly in high school that I had a gift for science, and have since then been dedicated to pursing a career in the health care and laboratory science field. I dedicate most of my life to achieving this goal and have taken many classes in high school such as Principles of Biomedical Science and Human Body Systems, as well as prerequisite college courses in order to achieve this in my future. I have become a U-CHaMP Ambassador for the University of Kansas School of Health Professions and have already formed some amazing connections there, as well as connections in the University of Kansas Health Systems from my internship and always pushing to get into the labs like I dream of. For leadership, I have taken on may roles such as Yearbook Photo Editor my sophomore and junior years and Yearbook Editor-In-Chief my senior year, as well as being the Vice-President of HOSA. These experiences have forced me to come out of my shell and learn to problem solve as well as guide my peers in the right directions. Because of these experiences, I am a better person and have learned to appreciate others in leadership positions much more. Not only in classes and clubs have I shown leadership, but another example is in sports. This year I am one of two experienced jumpers on the track team, so I have made it a goal of mine to take the younger and less experienced athletes under my wing and mentor them to the best of my ability, and it feels good to take on that sort of leadership role.Â
