I reflect character through my values and focus. I'm very hard-working but know when to relax and have fun. A big value of mine is balance - I think too much work and too little play (and vice versa) makes life difficult. That's why I'm happy to help my fellow students succeed in school while I'm also willing to socialize and make everyone smile. I also possess a high level of integrity. I'm honest and straightforward with everybody and I'm not afraid to speak up when I need help. I communicate when something is wrong and always meet deadlines when I know my work is important to somebody. I also believe I hold strong senses of empathy and respect; I'm more than willing to help others in need. The values that I reflect in my life exhibit my character.
I reflect service through my commitment to my school and to my community. Throughout high school, I have volunteered for several community organizations including The Village Initiative, Inc., Kiwanis, and Piper Booster Club. My senior year, when I started to record my hours, I surpassed 30 hours for the 2024 year and became a part of the National Honor Society. I have been a part of Key Club for 3 years as well and am currently a Senior Representative for Piper. I have also put effort into Piper itself - I volunteered to be an Academy Ambassador junior year and am one of the most active tutors for Piper's STEM program. I tutor students for an hour after school almost every Thursday.
I reflect achievement through my dedication to school, sports, and extracurriculars. Throughout all 4 years of high school, I have worked strenuously to maintain all A's and have taken more and more challenging classes in order to exceed my limits. In sports, I have worked to achieve success as well. In cross-country, I put in the dedication to make the JV team freshman year and was able to make my way to the starting Varsity team senior year. I worked to make it to State for the debate and mock trial teams as well. I wasn't able to just show up and find success in these activities; I had to push with consistent discipline and focus in order to achieve results. I believe I have made the most of all activities I have been a part of, and I'm proud of my efforts throughout them.
Finally, I reflect leadership in all aspects of my life. I've been a varsity captain for cross-country and mock trial and hold positions in many of the clubs I'm apart of... but those don't properly characterize my leadership. The true leadership I possess is that which I exhibit every day - a silent leadership. I'm not always an outgoing student and can be pretty quiet, but my actions and decisions reflect my leadership. I'm always the one holding the door for people, I always help others with schoolwork when they need assistance, and I'm always making people feel welcomed in a group they're not familiar with. The club I helped create, TARP Club, correlates with these values as its goal is to provide students with a relaxing break from a stressful school day. My initiative to make every student the best and happiest they can be makes me a leader at Piper.Â
