In May 2017, it sold for $110.5 million at Sotheby's, the highest price ever paid at auction (at that time) for work by an American artist.
Still, to this day, it holds the 2nd highest price paid for an American artist's work at auction. ($195 million for an Andy Warhol work titled Shot Sage Blue Marilyn)
