1. Read this to each class:
April is Autism Awareness & Autism Acceptance Month
Autism is a type of neuro-diversity. It is a neurological and developmental condition that affects how people interact with others, communicate, learn, and behave. Someone who is on the autism spectrum may not respond the way you might think they would, and/or they may have repetitive behaviors and interests, difficulty with social interaction, or different communication skills. They make have difficulty making eye contact or understanding social cues, while others struggle to understand sarcasm or figurative language. They may have difficulty with non-verbal communication, such as facial expressions and body language, but everyone who has autism is different, just like people who don't have autism are different. Take time to get to know each person and what they like.
