The Occupational and Physical Therapy related-services department of Piedmont Public Schools has been working hard in the district to help shine a light on our student's individual talents and learning styles to promote functional independence in the classroom setting. Here's a look at some of the awesome things going on in the district with our therapists who want to help their students shine!
Let's go Wildcats, Let's Go!!!
Our Piedmont Therapists play a vital role at the Special Olympics, fostering inclusivity, overcoming barriers, and building life skills for students with intellectual disabilities. Their unwavering support and dedication empower athletes to compete confidently, celebrate victories, and make dreams come true, creating a truly inclusive and transformative experience at the games.
It's our favorite time of year!
Time to celebrate Occupational Therapy Month, which is held every April. Occupational Therapy Month is all about celebrating the holistic approach that OT has brought to healthcare.
We celebrate Occupational Therapy Month to honor our vital profession and the meaningful differences it makes in the lives of our students.
We appreciate all of our district OT service providers for everything that they do.
WHAT IS DUCK WEEK? This special Piedmont tradition is an annual charity week led by PHS students to raise funds for people from our community with significant medical needs. D.U.C.K. stands for Doing Unselfish Charities for Kids!
We LOVE celebrating DUCK week in therapy! During this week, we will have DUCK-themed fun to celebrate awareness & show off our Piedmont Pride! Wanna join the fun, check out our 'Activities to Try at Home', and strengthen those motor skills, DUCK week style!
Happy DUCK Week Y'all!
Marie Spencer, Occupational Therapy Service Provider teamed up with Special Education Teacher Sarah Hatley at the Middle School of Piedmont and won a grant to support daily life cooking skills in the Family Consumer Science Class. The grant proposal ‘Cooking Life Skills Matter’ is to support our middle school students with being successful in the academic environment, by increasing participation and ensuring students have greater accessibility to their curriculum through the use of adaptive cooking tools that meet the needs of our students.
