Depending on your course setup, you may want to hide content. For example, perhaps you want to make a module available to students on a certain date. There are two ways you can do that:
To hide content manually from your content tab, do the following:
Log into your instructor account.
Go to your content tab.
Select a piece of content you would like to hide. You can select a module, review activity, quizzes or a specific quiz. If you want to hide a specific video lesson or review activity instead of the entire module, simply click on the module to expand it, select the piece of content you want to hide and then click the toggle button at the top left part of the screen.
Once you have decided what you would like to hide, click on the toggle button in the top left part of the screen.
You can also use the Calendar tool to set up content visibility for weeks or months in advance. Content will appear to your students automatically, and you will not have to update anything manually in your Content tab. More on that here.
Hiding course content can help you control the pace of your online course. If you want content to be visible to your students at a certain time, simply hide it in your content tab and show it when you are ready.
Go to the Content Reports page to learn which content was viewed, the average viewing time, which students accessed specific units and how long they viewed them.
Here's how you can access the Content Reports feature:
Go to your Content tab
Click on the gear icon in the upper left corner of the screen.
Select 'View Reports' from the dialogue box. This will open a new page where you can view all data.
Here is the information you can find in the Reports:
Content tab
Course content (Modules and units). Each module can be expanded so you can view data for each unit.
Available to - how many students this content is visible to. This will match the numbers of students enrolled in your course.
Users visited - the number of students who viewed each unit. If you click on the number in the box, you will see additional information. For example:
Name, last name
Available (yes, no)
Last visited (date, time)
Number of visits
Total time spent viewing this content
Average time spent viewing this content
You can click on either one of these categories to sort data.
Average time spent - the average time students spent viewing this content.
Users tab
To learn more about the activities of each specific user (student), click on the Users tab in your main Content Reports page. Here is the data you can view per user:
Name, last name - if you click on a student's name, you will see additional information about their activity per module and unit. For example:
Title of the unit or module in this student's course,
If the unit is available (hidden or not),
Number of visits to each of these units
Average time spent viewing content per unit
Last visited - when this student last visited a specific unit
Content topics available - the total number of topics (units) available to this user
Content topics visited - the number of topics (units) visited by this user
No matter which data you are viewing, you will see the option to export statistics at the top of the page. Click 'Export statistics' to export statistics in .csv format. This is the only available document format you can select.
To completely reset all statistics, click on the 'Reset Statistics' at the top of the page.
