Use your Calendar tool to set up events or automate content visibility days, weeks or months in advance.
To configure content visibility using your Calendar tool, do the following:
Go to Course Admin - Calendar.
Click on 'Set dates'.
When a new window opens, select a module or a unit you want to hide.
Next, create a title and a description, and select a start date. This start date is the date your module, unit or activity becomes visible to students.
Save changes.
Once you save changes, you will notice the content you have hidden is not available to students anymore. You can check by switching to students' view.
You will have the option to set up 3 types of dates as you configure content visibility. Here's what each of those dates means:
Start dates
Modify when a student can view or access content in a module or topic.
Students won't be able to see content in their Content tab until the start date and time.
End dates
Restrict access to modules, topics, or items. They remove all access once the date has passed.
Students won't be able to see content in their Content tab after the end date and time.
We don't recommend using end dates because they end student access to the material.
Due dates
Specify when a student should complete materials in a module. The dates will appear in the course Calendar and students will be able to see and access materials with a Due Date after the date has passed.
Important: While you can use an end date or a due date, there is no need to use both. If you set up all three dates, your content will disappear from the students' content tab after the end date.
In this case, the content will become available (visible) after the start date, and disappear after the end date.
In this case, the content will become available (visible) after the start date. It will remain visible to students after the due date.
