Each school district is responsible for issuing work permits to all minors who reside in the district, including those who attend non-public schools, cyber charter schools, or are participating in a home education program. The main office is open 7:00am-3:30am Monday-Friday during the school year. In the summer, please call ahead to the main office to verify hours and request a time to meet with the issuing officer. 717-872-9520 x1801
Working papers (working permits) are legal documents that give students the privilege of working in accordance with State child labor laws.
The State gives the School District the authority to administer working permits ONLY to students who reside within the District.
Working permit business shall not interfere with students’ scheduled classes.
Working permits are issued only to students 14 through 17 years of age, including those who have been expelled or withdrawn. Students 18 years old or older are not required to have working permits.
A parent's signature is required on the documents, so it is recommended that a student come in with their parent. During the school year, a current student can come to the main office and take a form home for the parent to sign.
The student must be present with the following documents:
Copy of the Student’s birth certificate or passport
If the student has not registered with PMSD, bring documentation of enrollment in school or homeschool documentation.
The student must wait to sign the application in the presence of the issuing officer.
All students will receive the blue card work permit.
