Every student's course pathway at Penn Manor High School will be unique and change as students' interests and passions evolve and change.
Students can mix and match department and program offerings (if meeting the prerequisites requested for courses). No one is required to choose a pathway below; however, students should plan ahead if they want to be eligible for one of the programs below. With careful planning, earning the honors designation at graduation is possible while still doing one of the Academic pathways below:
Penn Manor Agricultural Career and Technical Education.
Agriculture Science at Penn Manor prepares students for careers by teaching Agriculture Science principles, small and large animal health and management, food science, plant science, leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills. This is a state-recognized CTE Program, so students who complete it may take additional agriculture credits during senior year in place of some of the core requirements. Advanced Placement Courses There are about 16 AP courses for 11th and 12th grade students at Penn Manor (10th grade students can take these courses with teacher approval). To earn the college credit, students must take the College Board exam at the end of the course. Scored out of 5 points, most colleges take scores of 3 and higher. The cost for these exams at the most is about $100 and score of 3 or higher can save a student $1,200-$3,000+ in college tuition depending on the college, exam, and score.
Lancaster Career and Technical Center Several of the 12th-grade full-day CTC programs partner with HACC to offer dual enrollment credit. As an intuition of higher education, several CTC programs are accepted as transferable classes to other technical colleges and universities. Contact the CTC for more information.
Dual Enrollment. This is where a student is dually enrolled in high school and in college. Per state requirements, High schools and Colleges must have a partnership for students to enroll in college while they are still in high school. It is designed for classes to completement what is offered in the high school, not supplement. Cost for these programs are the responsibility of the families; however, there are scholarships available.
Early Enrollment. At Penn Manor uses the term ‘Early Enrollment’ to signify an early enrollment to a college program while still in high school. Unlike in Dual Enrollment where students choose their own courses and commit to one semester at a time, Penn Manors early enrollment opportunities are at least a year-long commitment and have more structure. Cost for these programs are the responsibility of the families; however, there are scholarships available.
