Important information for applicants applying to be a teacher or substitute

Effective Teacher Training classes are being offered by our partners at Cape Fear Community College. The schedule for July and August is below. You must complete this class to be eligible to work for Pender County Schools in a classroom setting.


November 1-9 (CFCC Burgaw Campus): 5:30 PM - 9:30 PM

December 1-9 (CFCC Burgaw Campus): 8 AM - noon

General Information

NC Educator Preparation Program Qualifications:

Certified applicants must hold a current North Carolina Teaching License in the area in which they are applying.

Lateral Entry Program Qualifications:

Applicants interested in being hired as a lateral entry teacher should comply with the Lateral Entry Program Qualifications.

Compensation:

Certified Teacher's salary is based on the State Salary Schedule plus 7% local teacher supplement, and state and local employee's benefits package unless otherwise stated. Classified employees receive compensation based on the State Salary Schedule plus local supplement, state and local employee's benefits package unless otherwise stated.

Pender County Schools has launched a new employment tracking application system NC School Jobs powered by People Admin. The new applicant tracking system provides an innovative way to streamline the hiring process. Applicants will now experience an enhanced, user friendly system when applying for positions. Application Process

All new applicants must create an online application. To view certified and classified positions, visit the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction Sign-up or Login to NC Schools Jobs powered by People Admin. Applicants may also submit a resume and letter of interest to the site contact person listed in the position details.

Internal applicants for any administrative/central services positions should send a letter of interest and an updated resume to the Office of Human Resources via courier, fax, or email.

You will now need to upload the following documents to your online portfolio:

  • Instate/Out of State Teacher License

  • NCDPI Letter stating what your requirements are to convert to a SPII License

  • Copies of Test Scores

  • Copy of Official Transcripts

All of these requested documents will need to be attached to your application for review.

References listed on your application should be Supervisory.
