Pender County Schools is launching a new safety initiative in the 2018-19 school year to ensure the safety of our youngest students who ride the bus to school.

Every K-2 student will receive a "K-2 Bus Rider" tag, which will be affixed to the student's backpack with a key ring. The tag will assist bus drivers with identifying students who need to have a parent or guardian present for pickup.

"Student safety is our priority," said Brandon Smith, PCS Transportation Director. "Every day, families across Pender County trust us to get their students to and from school safely, and the K-2 Bus Tag will ensure our youngest riders are only dropped off at their stop with a parent or guardian present."

Should families wish to opt out of participation in this safety initiative, they may do so by completing the necessary form at their child's school.
