Will go ahead unless conditions are outside what is stated in the College Weather Policy, also found below. If dangerous weather is forecast the Director of Sport, with College Leadership will cancel training sessions. Please contact the Extra-curricular Team before cancelling any training sessions to ensure the correct process is followed.
Where the temperature for the forthcoming SATURDAY is forecast at 38oC on the Bureau of Meteorology’s website at 8.00am on Friday, all Saturday morning outdoor Extra-curricular sport will be cancelled.
Where conditions are consistent with the above; all indoor sport will continue, providing the indoor venue is fully airconditioned. Should the indoor venue not have appropriate air-conditioning, indoor sport will also be cancelled as per the statement above.
For extreme circumstances where the forecast changes after 8.00am on the Friday to be above 38oC the Director of Sport will authorise the cancellation of all Extra-curricular sport.
For both of the above scenarios, an email and text message will be sent to all Pedare sport coordinators, and to all relevant members of the Pedare Community (students, coaches, parents, umpires), informing them of the cancellation of all Extra-curricular sport for the following morning.
If the temperature for the programmed day is forecast at or above 38oC on the Bureau of Meteorology’s website at 3pm the day before, all Extra-curricular and Knockout sport will be cancelled.
If the temperature for the programmed day is forecast between 35-37oC on the Bureau of Meteorology’s website at 3pm the day before, all Extra-curricular and Knockout sport will be modified to include regular drink breaks, mandatory sunscreen, hats and a modified program which includes more skill based practice and minimise physical exertion.
If the forecast temperature is less than 38oC but conditions are considered as extreme, (e.g. high humidity, thunderstorms/lightning) the Director of Sport will authorise the cancellation of all Extra-curricular and Knockout sport.
For both of the above scenarios, the Director of Sport will email and text message all Pedare sport coordinators who will then be expected to communicate with students, coaches, parents, umpires to inform them of the cancellation.
For all of the above scenarios, the Director of Sport will notify all involved including the visiting school.
