Game Day

The association's weather policy will be applied for each individual sport. Games will go ahead unless the conditions are outside what is stated in the specific association weather policy found below. Contact the Director of Sport on 0409845581 if you require further assistance.

Training

Will go ahead unless conditions are outside what is stated in the College Weather Policy, also found below. If dangerous weather is forecast the Director of Sport, with College Leadership will cancel training sessions. You will then be notified by your coach of cancellations. 

Extreme Weather Policy for Extra-curricular and Knockout Sports

Saturday Sport

• Where the temperature for the forthcoming SATURDAY is forecast at 38oC on the Bureau of Meteorology’s website at 8.00am on Friday, all Saturday morning outdoor Extra-curricular sport will be cancelled.

• Where conditions are consistent with the above; all indoor sport will continue, providing the indoor venue is fully airconditioned. Should the indoor venue not have appropriate air-conditioning, indoor sport will also be cancelled as per the statement above. 

• The Pedare Blue Gum Sports Centre is fully airconditioned and fixtures in this space will go ahead.

• For extreme circumstances where the forecast changes after 8.00am on the Friday to be above 38oC the Director of Sport will authorize the cancellation of all Extra-curricular sport.

• Where conditions for outdoor sport including but not limited to extreme or continuous rain and/or thunderstorms, the Director of Sport will make the decision with the opposing teams Director of Sport to cancel games in weather deemed unsafe for the sport (e.g. cricket and tennis).

• For all of the above scenarios the Director of Sport will send an email and text message to all Pedare and opposition sport coordinators, and to all relevant members of the Pedare Community (students, coaches, parents, umpires), informing them of the cancellation of all Extra-curricular sport.

Midweek Sport

• If the temperature for the programmed day is forecast at or above 38oC on the Bureau of Meteorology’s website at 3pm the day before, all Extra-curricular and Knockout sport will be cancelled.

• If the temperature for the programmed day is forecast between 35-37oC on the Bureau of Meteorology’s website at 3pm the day before, all Extra-curricular and Knockout sport will be modified to include regular drink breaks, mandatory sunscreen, hats and a modified program which includes more skill based practice and reduced physical exertion.

• If the forecast temperature is less than 38oC but conditions are considered as extreme, (e.g. high humidity, thunderstorms/lightning) the Director of Sport will authorize the cancellation of all Extra-curricular and Knockout sport.

• For all of the above scenarios, the Director of Sport will email and text message all Pedare sport coordinators who will then be expected to communicate with students, coaches, parents, umpires to inform them of the cancellation.

For all of the above scenarios, the Director of Sport will notify all involved including the visiting school.
