Google Fit is an application that can track different aspects of someone's health. This application can be downloaded on both Apple and Android; however, it works better on android. Different features will be described throughout this page.
The Heart Rate Activity
Google Fit has a Heart Point activity that tracks someone’s heart rate throughout the day. Depending on the intensity of the activity, points can be earned throughout the day. One point can be earned by picking up the pace on a walk or two points can be earned by running. The app can track the amount of MET(Metabolic Equivalent of Tasks) someone’s activities or exercise consists of. One minute of any activity that 3 to 5.9 METs can get someone 1 heart point. An activity that has 6 or higher METs can get someone 2 heart points. This feature is best used with a smartwatch, however it is optional.
Different Features on Google Fit
The application is customizable and adapts to one’s needs based on their current health status and their fitness history. It is easy to monitor these updates and features with a phone or smartwatch. The app makes it easy to add fitness goals and track your way up to achieving the set goals. Someone can also track and set times for each of their workouts. Down below will be the different ways someone can track how much they walk.
Journaling
Within the app, someone can journal different health aspects such as sleep cycles, weight, and physical activities. Below will be pictures and descriptions of the different journal features. These can be accessed by pressing the button that looks like a clipboard at the bottom
Where someone organizes the different journal entries. One can add different entries by pressing the "plus" sign at the bottom right.
Journaling different daily physical activies within the help can help not only track how many calories someone burns, but how many heart points they can earn.
Where someone can track their weight on a certain day. Tracking it every week can help someone notice weight gain or weight loss.
Where someone can track what time they go to bed and what time they wake up. Sleep pattern can be tracked with a smartwatch.
Browsing
The browsing section in Google Fit is where someone can find and record different health aspects. Each of these can be recorded through the app or tracked with a smartwatch. The next couple parts are going to be explaining each aspect listed in the picture.
Through this part of the application, it tracks the different aspects of physical activities. It is easy to record each activity that is done. All someone needs to do is press the "plus" button in the top right corner and record any physical activity done the same way they would journal any physical activity.
With the body measurement feature, it is easy to track someone's different body features, such as weight, body fat, and height. To add new updates to different body measurements, just press the "plus" sign in the top right corner and add the information into the box.
Through the vitals feature it is easy to add different internal vital measurements to keep track of, such as heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure. It is easy to add new measurements by pressing which measurement someone wants to update and record it.
Where all of the data in the Nutrition page is organized.
The two options to add hydration or calorie intake. This pops up when someone presses the plus sign in the top right corner.
There are different aspects to add when entering calorie intake. Meal type is going to be whether it was breakfast, lunch or dinner. The amount of calories per meal can be tracked throughout the day, week, month, or even year.
With the hydration feature, it is easy to measure how much water someone intakes throughout the day, week, month, or year. The amount of water is measured in millileters.
Sleeping
Where all of the sleep related data is organized. New data can be entered with the plus sign at the top right of the screen.
Adding data is easy! Just put what time someone went to sleep and record when they wake up.
The different data can be tracked throughout the week and months.
Profile
The profile part of Google Fit is where someone can add different health goals and aspects, such as step goals and heart point goals. This part can be visited through the button at the far right on the bottom.
Activity Goals
The activity goals section on the profile page is where someone can set goals they want to achieve for steps and heart points.
In order to set the goal for the amount of steps someone wants to do in a day, all they have to do is either add or subtract the amount that the app gives you. After that, press "set goal" at the bottom of the screen.
In order to set the heart point goal, someone needs to either press the plus button for more or the minus button for less. Once they get to their desired goal, they need to press "set goal."
Sleeping
If someone wanted to sleep a certain amount of time every night, they need to make a sleeping goal in the profile section.
Pressing the arrow (what is circled on the pictured) beside the time someone wants to go to bed will lead them to the time wheel pictured on the far right.
Pressing the arrow (what is circled in the picture) beside the time someone wants to wake up will lead to the time wheel pictured on the right.
The time wheel makes it easy to change the times someone wants to go to sleep and wake up.
About You
The About You section of the profile page is where someone can fill and update information about their weight and height.
By pressing the arrow, someone can add their weight using the number wheel.
The number wheel can measure weight three different ways.
By pressing the arrow, someone can record how tall they are using the number wheel provided.
The number wheel measures in two different ways: the metric system and the imperial system.
