Pete De Vasto has been blind from birth, and moved from the SF Bay Area to Portland just over 8 years ago after retiring from a very successful career in the computer industry. His last 11 years of work were spent between Apple and Adobe, helping these companies make their products more usable by blind or low vision people. His extreme passion for aviation and airports led him to become a member of the PDX Accessibility Advisory committee back in 2018. A major thrust of his effort has involved testing Goodmaps, an app that allows a person with any mobile phone to figure out their current location, and then guide them to any destination in the terminal. He’s also a member of a group called PDX2045, which is developing a road map for future developments at the airport over the next 20 years.
