Cameron Black is a 36-year-old blind advocate, father, and community leader based in Kansas City, Missouri. Born completely blind, Cameron has dedicated his life to breaking down barriers and proving that independence is achievable for everyone, regardless of their abilities. Since moving to Kansas City in 2016, he has taken full control of his life, embracing his independence with determination and resilience.
Cameron is the proud father of two young children—an 8-year-old daughter and a 5-year-old son—who are his world. He lives independently in his own home, where he balances his family life with a thriving career. Cameron is deeply committed to empowering others and works with Alphapointe, a non-profit organization based in Kansas City that provides rehabilitation services and employment opportunities to individuals who are visually impaired or blind.
In addition to his work at Alphapointe, Cameron writes a bi-weekly blog titled “Through Our Eyes”, where he shares his experiences and perspectives on life as a blind individual. His advocacy extends far beyond the workplace, as he has been a prominent figure in both the blind and sports communities. He has been featured in television and radio, as well as magazines, and has lent his voice as a narrator for promotional videos. His passion for sports has led him to throw the first pass at a Kansas City Chiefs game and the first pitch at a Kansas City Royals game, and he was featured in a documentary in partnership with Michelob Ultra, Dreamcaster, where he used adaptive technology to provide live commentary for an NBA playoff game. In 2024, he spoke on a panel at the Add Color conference in Los Angeles.
