Getting into the Game: A Sports Fan's Dream Realized
Cameron Black is a 36-year-old blind advocate, father, and community leader based in Kansas City, Missouri. Born completely blind, Cameron has spent his life breaking down barriers and showing that independence is possible for everyone. Since moving to Kansas City in 2016, he has embraced his independence and is committed to empowering others in the blindness community.
Cameron is a proud father of two young children and lives independently in his own home. He works as a team lead at Alphapointe, a local non-profit that provides rehabilitation and employment services for people who are blind or visually impaired. Cameron also writes a bi-weekly blog, “Through Our Eyes,” where he shares his experiences living as a blind individual.
An advocate for both the blindness and sports communities, Cameron has been featured in television, radio, and print. He has also been involved in several high-profile events, including throwing the first pass at a Kansas City Chiefs game and the first pitch at a Royals game. In partnership with Michelob Ultra, he was featured in a documentary, Dreamcaster, where he used adaptive technology to provide live commentary for an NBA playoff game. Cameron will be speaking at the 2024 Add Color conference in Los Angeles.
