The Mental Health Resource Team will be offering a series of Spring Groups/sessions for Secondary School students. Flyers are attached and a description of groups can be found below. Contact information for each group is on the flyers.

CALMM - COPING, ACCEPTING, LETTING GO, MOVING ON- MINDFULLY
A 8-session, therapeutic group for high school students grades 9-12 who struggle with managing difficult emotions and for whom emotional dysregulation leads to making poor or impulsive decisions, problematic behaviours, and interpersonal difficulties. The purpose of this group is to help students deepen their understanding of emotions and learn to manage them more effectively. The participants will have the opportunity to learn and practice skills in mindfulness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance, along with healthy coping mechanisms for dealing with intense emotions and practical techniques for managing emotional distress. A 5-session group for middle and high school students who identify as trans, non-binary, and /or gender non-conforming. This group aims to provide gender-diverse students with a safer space to explore their unique identities and lived experiences. Weekly topics may include navigating transition and discrimination, race and being trans/gender, dealing with family issues etc., and will incorporate open discussion, education, and the sharing of coping strategies. The group also provides students with an opportunity to find a community and connect with other students who share their identity. Dates and Flyer here.Sankofa Circle
A 6-session weekly group, culturally adapted, evidence-based therapeutic group for middle and high-school students who self-identify as Black, African, African-Canadian, African-Caribbean, African-Indigenous, and part of the African diaspora. Sessions are facilitated by PDSB Black mental health clinicians. The Sankofa mission is to be a culturally specific, proactive therapeutic support that empowers Black students to foster a sense of positive identity and enhance well-being. A 5-session weekly therapeutic group offered to high school students. This group provides students the opportunity to learn and practice stress reduction and management techniques. Students will also demonstrate an awareness of what triggers stress and anxiety while learning healthy coping strategies to support their wellbeing.
