Please see below for instructional handouts prepared by our Consulting Educational Audiologists about connecting each FM system to your child's laptop or device. Please contact your child's Teacher of the Deaf/ Hard of Hearing if you have difficulty accessing the handouts.Â
For support with FM system troubleshooting, please contact the FM Technologist, Vanessa Reston, via email: vanessa.reston@peelsb.com or by phone: 905-609-1030.
To help your child be successful during distance learning, please ensure that:
your child wears hearing aids or processors during all waking hours at home
your child's hearing aids or processors have working batteries
your child's computer is charged
the FM transmitter is turned ON before connecting
the FM transmitter is turned OFF at end of session
the FM transmitter is charged each night with the charger provided (there are indicators on each device to show you the battery life, if needed)
Some accommodations that are helpful to remember when learning at home are:
keep background noise to a minimum when your child is engaged in learning activities
ensure that closed captioning is turned on when watching YouTube videos (click the cc button at the bottom right corner of the viewing screen)
ensure that your child has a good view of your face when explaining concepts
