Using Your Audio Enhancement

How do I use my Audio Enhancement?

 Which system do I have?

There are two types of Audio Enhancement systems in the SDPBC interactive Classroom, IR (infrared) and XD.

You can tell which system you have by the kind of teacher microphone you use in the classroom. The IR teacher microphone is shaped like a teardrop and is grey and black in color.  The IR microphone will only work inside the room, or in any room with an IR receiver without the need to "pair" the microphone.

The newer XD microphones use a radio frequency (RF) receiver are slightly different from the IR microphones.  The XD microphone is oval-shaped and black in color. The XD microphone has a longer range than the IR and can transmit through walls. XD microphones must be "paired" receivers to work in a particular room. For instructions on how to pair XD microphones, see the XD microphone guide below, or view the video on the Tips & Troubleshooting page.

Both IR and XD microphones have controls on the front to easily adjust volume as you teach, if necessary, and include lanyards that allow them to be worn around the neck. If your teacher microphone is missing a lanyard, speak with your school tech.

The Student Microphone is an option found in rooms with recent upgrades, including the CA-60 amplifier.  You may not have this device at this time.  The advantages of the student mic is that your students do not have to strain their voice during presentations and you do not have to give up your mic as you continue to teach during the class.

The student microphone can also be housed in a bracket on classroom interactive flat panel carts  to allow audio from SMART panels to be played through your Audio Enhancement system. For instructions on how to connect the microphone for SMART panel audio playback, consult the quickstart guide on the back of the SMART panel,  view it on the SDPBC SMART support site, or consult our Tips & Troubleshooting page.

For IR Audio Enhancement systems, if the student microphone is not available, a teacher teardrop microphone can be used instead. Consult this guide for instructions on how to properly install a teardrop microphone for SMART panel audio playback.
