Tips & Troubleshooting

How do I...?

If you are experiencing technical issues with your Audio Enhancement system or are looking for tips on best practices, consult the list of frequently asked questions below.

How do I clean my microphones?

All microphones can be cleaned by gently wiping them with a sanitizing solution containing at least 70% isopropyl alcohol. Do not  pour liquid on or submerge products in any type of fluid. Doing so will void your warranty and may result in permanent damage. Refer to this guide for more information on cleaning and sanitizing your Audio Enhancement equipment.

How do I charge my microphone, and how often should I charge it?

To charge your microphone, ensure that the charger is connected to a power source and insert the cable into the charging port on the microphone. When charging an XD microphone, the battery charge LED on the microphone will blink. When charging an IR microphone, the battery charge LED will remain solid red.

Let your microphones charge overnight, every night.

Why won't my microphone charge?

If you are charging your microphone overnight but it has stopped holding a charge, your battery may need to be replaced.

For IR microphones, speak with your school tech for replacement rechargeable (NiMH) batteries. DO NOT USE non-rechargeable alkaline batteries — if you attempt to charge your microphone with alkaline batteries in it, your microphone will be ruined.  This damage is not covered under warranty.

For XD microphones, the rechargeable Li-ion batteries supplied by Audio Enhancement carry a 90-day warranty from the date of purchase. After the warranty period has expired, if you encounter a charging error, it is likely because the battery has been fully drained and needs to be "boosted" to accept a charge. Contact your school tech for assistance with boosting your battery or obtaining a replacement battery from the Educational Technology Department. Please submit an eSupport ticket and Pony the dead Li-ion batteries back to Ed Tech.

Why isn't my microphone broadcasting sound?

Your Audio Enhancement microphone LED indicators can be used to identify and troubleshoot most issues that would prevent you from broadcasting sound in your classroom.

How do I connect my SMART panel to the Audio Enhancement system?

Your SMART interactive flat panel display can integrate effortlessly with your Audio Enhancement system, allowing you to hear the sound output through your classroom speakers, rather than through the speakers on your panel. To play your SMART panel audio through your Audio Enhancement system, ensure that the microphone is powered on and that the audio cable is plugged into the side of the mic, as well as the port in the back of the display. Look for the green arrow on the back of the panel that guides you where to plug in the cable. If the cable is unplugged at the bottom of the panel, the sound will play through the SMART Board speakers.
