Week beginning - Monday 9th March 2026
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
What an electrifying week it has been in Year 4! In maths, we’ve continued to strengthen our grasp of fractions, bravely venturing into the world of mixed numbers. The children have shown incredible "fractional" focus and resilience, and their progress is truly wonderful to see.
Our Inquiry into electricity has really powered up, too. We turned into classroom detectives to test which materials were conductors and which were insulators, leading to some very surprising discoveries! The highlight, however, was our deep dive into electrical board games. We had a brilliant time taking them apart to see what makes them tick; we even discovered that some of our favourite games use surprisingly simple circuits! Now, the real fun begins as the children start brainstorming and designing their own electrical board games. We can’t wait to see which components they choose to bring their inventions to life.

Harriett has been a brilliant inquirer this week, exploring different electrical board games and making predictions about what their circuits may look like. She has been caring and open-minded as she embarks on her own electrical board game, working collaboratively with her group to come up with the initial design. Well done!

Macie has pushed herself in maths this week. Taking on and learning a tricky concept of placing mixed numbers on a number line. She stopped to reflect and discuss with an adult before tackling the question and was then able to work independently to complete the rest. Well done Macie!

Macy Rae has worked incredibly hard as a principled learner this week. She has asked some deep inquiry questions and it's lovely to hear the curiosity behind her thinking skills. Keep up the brilliant work.

Juan’s love for reading is infectious! He tackles every text with determination, making brilliant progress with his fluency and pace. It is fantastic to see him dive into various genres and use the text so confidently to back up his answers. Keep up that amazing curiosity, Juan!
