Week beginning - Monday 9th March 2026
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
This week has been full of learning and memorable experiences! We had a visit from real veterinarians who came to talk to us about life as a vet. The children loved learning about how vets care for animals and even had the chance to practice bandaging wounds on their own teddy bears! Through our inquiry, we have been using our imaginations to create our very own creatures. The children worked hard to bring their creatures to life using powerful adjectives to describe how they look, behave and their special abilities, we used AI to bring these to life. During phonics, we have been revisiting the "ai/ay" sound, practising how to recognise and use them in different words. In reading, we continued exploring "The Boy and the Jaguar". This led to thoughtful discussions about our favourite animals and how we can help each other. In maths, we began our topic of measurement. The children explored length, height and mass and had lots of fun measuring objects around the classroom. In PE, we have been developing our hockey skills. The children showed fantastic control while using their hockey sticks to move the ball and demonstrated great focus and teamwork. It has been a wonderful week of curiosity, creativity, and active learning in Year 1!
