In the Primary Years Programme (PYP), a Central Idea is the core of a unit of study. Think of it as a single, powerful statement that acts as a "big idea" that all the learning revolves around. It's a broad, enduring concept that goes beyond just a specific topic, encouraging children to make connections across different subjects.
Module 4 Lines of Inquiry
1. Explain how individuals' views can be shared; now and in history
2. Gender roles and stereoptypes influenced the responsibilities and experiences of different groups
3. Explore the impact that views of conflict can have on communities
A line of inquiry is a specific focus or a key question that helps guide and structure your child's learning. Think of it as a sub-topic that breaks down a bigger, more complex idea. The lines of inquiry are the different avenues we take to explore the central idea. They help children dig deeper, ask more specific questions, and make connections between different subjects. This approach encourages your child to be an active, curious learner who takes ownership of their education.
