Week beginning - Monday 23rd February 2026
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
Dear Parents and Carers,
We have had a fantastic start to Module 4 and have really hit the ground running!
Inquiry:
We have launched our brand-new central idea: Events beyond living memory are retold through the arts. Our new lines of inquiry are:
Humans make discoveries by travelling to unexplored places.
Human discoveries are remembered through the arts.
Human discoveries lead to change.
This week, we revisited the learner profile attributes and explored how they link to some of the explorers we have begun studying. The children have already shown fantastic engagement and curiosity, asking thoughtful questions and making great connections. We are really looking forward to welcoming you into school towards the end of this module for our showcase, where the children will have the opportunity to share their learning with you.
Maths:
We are continuing our unit on multiplication and division. This is a challenging area of learning, but we have been incredibly impressed with the children’s perseverance and determination. We are using a range of manipulatives and visual resources to help embed their understanding and build confidence. Thank you so much for your continued support at home by practising the 2, 5 and 10 times tables using Google Classroom and Times Tables Rock Stars. Regular practice really does make a huge difference.
GPaS:
In GPaS, we have been exploring the key features of a diary entry in preparation for a longer piece of writing over the next couple of weeks. The children have revisited regular and irregular past tense verbs, practised writing in the first person and looked closely at time connectives. We have been focusing on how to bring all of these elements together to write a detailed and well-structured diary entry. We are very excited to see the finished pieces!
2HB Update:
As you will already be aware, after a successful placement as part of her teacher training course, Miss Beamish has decided to move permanently to Leigh Academy Paddock Wood and will be based in 2HB for the remainder of the academic year. We are absolutely thrilled to have her joining the team full-time and cannot wait to see the fantastic learning experiences she will continue to provide for the children in 2HB.
World Book Day – Friday 6th March:
We are so excited for World Book Day next Friday! We cannot wait to see the children dressed in their fantastic costumes and, if possible, bringing along a book that links to their character. We will be celebrating our love of reading throughout the entire week, with a particular focus on the big day itself. It is always such a joyful celebration of books and storytelling.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We hope you have a lovely weekend.
