Week beginning - Monday 23rd February 2026
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
It has been lovely to welcome the children back after the half term break! This week we started our new inquiry all about how animals and people can live together in different ways. The children were excited to uncover our new learning by exploring various mystery items in our "suitcase from the wild" and discussing how each item could relate to our inquiry. We were blown away by the children's enthusiasm to share their knowledge as well as the fascinating questions asked. In maths, we have begun extending our knowledge of place value to focus on numbers from 20 up to 50. We enjoyed using our dienes and counters to practically make our numbers by splitting them into tens and ones. In phonics, we have been focusing on the trigraphs "wor" and "our" found in words such as "world" and "humour" and have been working hard on our decoding and blending. We have enjoyed delving into our new reading book "A Boy and a Jaguar". The children made some insightful predictions by using evidence from the title and front cover as well as using their retrieval skills to discuss and reflect on the meaning of the story. We are excited to see where their learning will take them next week!
