Welcome to Science Research!
The Science Research program at Packer is an educational opportunity for students to actively contribute to the scientific community. The goal of this 3-year program is to do a deep dive into a specific area of science that the individual student is passionate about. Overall, this program enables students to collaborate with their peers and researchers, thus enabling them to develop communication, presentation, reading, and hands-on science skills.
In their first year of the program, students hone in on a specific aspect of science they are interested in. Once they determine their focus, they start to read research papers and present them. A big part of 10th grade is applying to laboratories in the NYC area, with the goal of securing an internship.
During the second and third years of the Science Research program, students engage in lab work, participate in projects within their professional lab, and present their progress and project at Packer's end of year Science Symposium. As you scroll through this website, you will see the posters created by all students in the program. Each student studies a different, unique topic and has developed a poster that pertains to their specific interests. Posters may present individual research, project proposals, research papers or an overview of their lab's focus. You will also find where they work, their research paper (if applicable), and any awards/recognitions. Have fun exploring!
