STEAM - Hello OWN 2 Family!
So far, students across grade levels have used the design process to explore real-world challenges—such as keeping a message dry in water, building the tallest structure, and creating an airplane that can fly the farthest. Through these fun, hands-on experiences, students are learning how giving clear instructions, noticing patterns, and testing ideas help solve problems.
In Grade 2, students first applied these ideas by designing and testing paper airplanes. They experimented with different designs, made improvements, and reflected on what worked best. Now, students are building on these same principles as they begin coding, using their prior learning to understand how planning, testing, and revising lead to successful solutions.
These experiences build strong thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, and support students in becoming inquirers, thinkers, and risk-takers, while reinforcing that learning happens through trying, testing, and improving.

Winterfest
Annual music performance
Our Winterfest holiday performance brought together students from Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades to share songs celebrating the many holidays people observe around the world in December. As an IB candidate school, we value multicultural learning, and this performance reflected our commitment to building a community that honors diversity and global understanding. When students learn about different cultures, traditions, and celebrations, they develop empathy, curiosity, and respect for others—skills that help them become open-minded, compassionate learners who appreciate that there are many beautiful ways to celebrate and belong.
IB learner profile
Music education and singing in a choral group play a powerful role in developing students’ communication skills while strongly reflecting the IB Learner Profile trait of being a Communicator. Through singing, students learn to express ideas and emotions clearly, listen attentively to others, and work collaboratively toward a shared goal. Choral experiences build confidence in speaking and performing, teach students how to convey meaning through both words and music. These skills help students become effective communicators who can share their voices thoughtfully and connect with others in meaningful ways.
