Our students demonstrated friendship, by promising to use kind words and gestures to each other, contributing to a bully-free learning environment.
Big smiles in room 215!
Our students demonstrated the pillar of the month, friendship, by twinning with students throughout different classrooms.
Students worked on iReady to strengthen the skills we've been working on in reading, such as author's claim and identifying the main idea of a text.
While English is our main language for learning, students are also taught Spanish ages K-5. Students are encouraged to use whatever language they feel comfortable with, whether that is their home language or English.
Math: Students are learning how to apply different properties, such as the distributive and commutative properties, to multiply and divide. Students are also practicing their multiplication facts as they grow more fluent with multiplication.
Reading: Students are reading expository texts, exploring topics such as government, voting, and immigration. Our primary focus is on developing key comprehension skills, including identifying the main idea, understanding the author's claim, and analyzing cause and effect relationships. We are also continuously reviewing text structure and the ability to pinpoint relevant or key details within a text.
Writing: Students have been working on a personal narrative about a tradition that they celebrate with their family or in their culture.
Social Studies: In Social Studies, students are finishing up our economics unit. Students learned about resources, human capital, and goods and services. We explored different careers and what steps students will need to take to someday enter those fields.
