The recent field trip to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden was a wonderful experience for all students! They gained valuable insight into the world of botany, exploring a variety of plant types and learning about their growth and adaptation processes. As a hands-on activity, each student started their own plant and received instructions on proper care.
Math: Students are currently exploring various multiplication and division strategies and patterns. A key focus is on giving students the choice (agency) to select the methods that best suit their individual learning styles. Additionally, they are practicing multiplication facts from 0 to 10.
Reading: Students read expository texts this week focusing on immigration to America. We explored the diverse reasons people left their homelands seeking new opportunities and detailed the goals they set upon arrival. The readings also described the process of how families adapted to their new lives in America.
Writing: Students are currently addressing the essential question: Why do people immigrate to new places? This follows a reading activity focusing on families arriving at Ellis Island and the rigorous process they underwent to be approved or denied permission to stay in America.
Social Studies: Our current unit in Social Studies is an in-depth exploration of the fascinating culture and community of Japan. This study will go beyond simple geography to truly understand the country's unique heritage, traditions, and way of life.
