Our STEM in the Valley pathways are rooted in Project Lead The Way (PLTW). They are a series of courses and pathways that provide students with opportunities to explore and experience engineering through comprehensive curriculums that emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, innovation, and real-world problem solving. The hands-on, project-based program engages students on multiple levels, exposes them to a wide variety of topics, and provides them with a strong foundation for achieving their academic goals in any chosen field of study. This sequence prepares students for college and career success in STEM fields.
Each pathway begins with Introduction to Engineering Design, includes at least one of Principles of Biomedical Science, Principles of Engineering or Computer Science Essentials and ends with Engineering Design & Development capstone course. Students choose from an extensive course catalog featuring PLTW courses such as Civil Engineering & Architecture, Digital Electronics, Environmental Sustainability, Human Body Systems, Medical Interventions, and AP Computer Science as well as AP and locally designed courses to fulfill the pathways' STEM credit requirements.
All pathways meet core graduation requirements for English, Math, Social Studies and Traditional Sciences. Specific math and science concentrations are noted below with full course requirements available on each pathway's page.
