Every student lives in a world enhanced by technology and driven by digital media. Understanding how to use and create media in an increasingly digital world is as fundamental to our students' future as reading, writing, and math. Learning through digital media opens a world of resources to our students and creates opportunities embrace, engage, and invest in shaping their future. As their futures evolve, so too does the 21st century classroom. Teachers step forward to innovate and facilitate our students exploration and understanding of the world around them. These projects are a sample of the many ways we have grown and discovered together as school community.
Mrs. Muriel, 5th Grade Share Your Adventure - creating primary historical documents
When we moved from our school buildings to online learning, Mrs. Muriel challenged her students to think like explorers. Similar to the Westward Expansions, students embarked on an exploration of how to be online learners. They documented their journey with pictures and combined them into a video about their time at home. Some students added text to document as well. They are living through history and can use their videos as primary source documents.
Ms. Olson, 3rd Grade Changes in water phases
As we became more familiar with remote learning, students were challenged to create a video or other media to show that they understand various subjects and concepts. Jailee's family helped her star in her own movie as she explained the phases of water.
