Concurrent Enrollment (CE) refers to when a high school student may sign up for a Peralta College course(s) in a way that is very self-managed and independent. 

It is: 

• A great way to complete real college courses while in high school (NOTE: This is does NOT go on your transcript for credit/GPA boost)

• The purpose of concurrent enrollment is for advancement purposes at your high school and not for replacing credits.

• Typically located at the college campuses (College of Alameda, Laney College, Merritt College, and Berkeley City College)

• Self-managed by students and not facilitated by the high school or school district.

• Students must follow the Peralta College policies and procedures, including for enrolling in college courses.

What should I do? 

1. Talk to your counselor to see if concurrent enrollment is the right fit for you and your schedule. Classes are on a first come first serve basis. 

How do I enroll in a class? 

1. Fill out an application: Peralta Application and look for classes that are available that semester.

2. Fill out this form: Concurrent Enrollment Form and have your counselor sign it. 

3. Bring your high school transcript and a photo ID to the Admissions and Records office at the college. 

4. Register for classes.

Dual Enrollment program with Peralta Community Colleges allows high school students take college-level courses, earning both high school and college credits (3 Peralta Units = 10 OUSD Credits). 

• These classes are taught by Peralta professors with OTHS staff support.

• Takes place/located at the Oakland Tech.

• Tailored to student interests, ensuring transferability to four-year colleges.

• The classes that are offered are based on your school site. 

All fees are waived—these classes are free! Students who earn a grade of C or higher receive a GPA boost.
